I hosted my first guest when I was five years old. I remember slipping into the kitchen and pulling glasses and plates out of cupboards and arranging them on a tray with a single flower from outside for an added "touch."

At the time I didn't know what "being a host" meant; all I knew was that I was making people feel welcome in our home. I couldn't explain why, but watching our guests smile made me smile too.

To me, hospitality is giving someone a kind experience, in the home, in a retail space, a café, or even my everyday interactions. It's a return to that childhood memory, and a Return to Lovely.
